Article number: 510001292 Product: 1:72 JU-87 B2 STUKA Model Dim.: 15,4 cm Decals for 4 versions. The JU-87 Stuka was the standard ground attack plane and dive bomber of the German Air Force at the beginning of WWII. In spite of its mediocre characteristics it achieved considerable fame through the psychological impact it had on the population and on the enemy forces. Never before has such massive employment of aircraft been experienced. The success of the Stukas during the first phase of the war was due to total air supremacy guaranteed by the Luftwaffe fighters which permitted the Stukas to operate without being disturbed by enemy aircraft. During the battle of Britain the myth of the JU-87 was re-dimensioned due to the supremacy of British fighter aircraft. Nevertheless the Stukas operated until the end of the war from the African theater to Russia.

Featuring a typical three-engine low-wing configuration, it had a wood, canvas and metal frame. Subsequently reconfigured into military variants, it was widely used by the Italian Regia Aeronautica during the Second World War, particularly as a bomber in the Mediterranean theatre and then as an effective torpedo bomber. Recognizable by the "hump" behind the cockpit and due to its three 750 HP Alfa Romeo 126 RC34 radial engines, it was capable of reaching a top speed of 430 km/h. In its basic bomber role it was superseded by many other more modern aircraft, however the "Sparviero" for the entire duration of the conflict achieved significant results in the hands of its skilled crews during torpedo maritime operations in which it attacked enemy shipping. Article number: 510001441 Product: 1:72 US F-5A Freedom Fighter During the 1950s, the American Aircraft Company Northrop began developmental work into a simple and "low cost" fighter that would meet the needs of several NATO member air forces. The F-5 met the precise specification, it being a light single-seat fighter, small in size but extremely maneuverable and effective. It was relatively simple and cheap to produce and was operationally efficient. The initial version produced by Northrop, designated F-5 A "Freedom Fighter", was fitted with two General Electric J85-GE-13 engines and could attain a maximum speed of 1,700 Km / h. Armed with two 20 mm. guns installed in the nose, the F-5 was a credible "multi-role" aircraft due to its weapons load capability, which could offer a wide range of offensive options for both air defense and ground attack missions. This multi-role aspect of the aircraft ensured its rapid take-up by many Air Forces. Detailed plastic kit in scale 1:72

It was a revolutionary heavy fighter with a twin-boom fuselage where the two engines were installed. The pilot was accommodated in a leading-edge cockpit at the centre of the aircraft. The P-38 could reach a top speed of over 660 km/h thanks to its two 12 cylinders liquid cooled V-1710 Allison engines, each capable of 1,425hp. It was armed with four Browning 12.7 mm machine guns and one Hispano M2 cannon which ensured highly effective firepower. The P38 was not particularly manoeuvrable compared to other single-engine fighters of the period, but it was very robust and stable. Its huge versatility made it a key aircraft both on operations in the Pacific theatre and on escort missions for long-range bombers over Europe. The P-38 with its characteristic shape and its ‘fear effect’ was nicknamed ‘the fork-tailed devil’ by enemy pilots. Detailed plastic kit in scale 1:72

Article number: 510001282 Product: 1:72 XB-70 Valkyrie Model Dim.: 79 cm Decal for one version. In the Cold War era the dream of every strategist was to own a bomber with the load capacity and autonomy of the B-52 able to fly faster than the B-58 and so the B-70 programme came into being. After years on the drawing board, and cutthroat competition between Boeing and North American Aviation, the latter’s design won the heated competition in December 1957, with an order for the first 30 aircraft to be in service by 1965. In 1959, however, it became clear that the still untested B-70 would not survive the new aerial combat scene technology and the programme was cut back to a minimum. Two prototypes were finally constructed, the first of which took to the air in September 1964, and the XB-70 Valkyries showed themselves able to fly at speeds exceeding Mach 3. Today they are considered by many scholars and airplane buffs to be the most beautiful aircraft ever constructed.

The Macchi M.C. 205 Veltro is considered the best Italian fighter of World War II. The evolution of the "Folgore" retained the excellent aeronautical design of its predecessor and was equipped, like other fighters of the "Series 5", with the German Daimler-Benz DB605 engine. The powerful V12 engine, also produced under license by Fiat, allowed the Veltro to reach a maximum speed of 640 km/h. Fast, maneuverable, and well-armed, with 2 × 12.7 mm machine guns in the nose and 2 × 20 mm cannons in the wings, it was capable of fighting on par with the best Allied fighters of the period, such as the American P-51 Mustang. It entered service with the Regia Aeronautica in the early months of 1943. After the armistice of September 8, it was used, until the end of the conflict, by both the flight units of the Italian Social Republic and those of the Co-Belligerent Air Force. The primary requirement however was to develop a ‘state of the art’ modern aircraft able to perform low-altitude penetrating strike missions. This need was met by the development of a twin-engine combat aircraft with a variable-sweep wing. The Tornado GR.1 (Ground Attack/Reconnaissance) was the initial version adopted by Royal Air Force in early ‘80s. In 1996 the Tornado was upgraded to the Gr.4 standard which was characterized by improved operational capabilities, new avionics systems for navigation and the adoption of new ‘on-board’ technologies. These systems enabled the effective identification and tracking of targets and the weapons management of the newer generation of weapons such as Paveway IV bombs and Storm Shadow cruise missiles. The JU-87 dive bomber is certainly one of the best known aircraft of WW2. The characteristic "gull wing" aircraft gained great notoriety at the beginning of the war, and is considered, together with the Panzer Divisions of the Wehrmacht, as defining symbols of the Blitzkrieg. During the war, new versions with differing operational profiles were introduced. The Ju-87G was developed as an "anti-tank" version of the Stuka, to counter the vast array of enemy armored vehicles deployed on the eastern front post 1943.The Stuka "ace" Hans Ulrich Rudel proposed the addition of two 37 mm Flak 18 cannons housed in underwing pods to better counter this developing threat. With this configuration the Ju-87G "Kanonenvogel" proved extremely effective in the hands of experienced pilots. Even more refined was the G-2 version which was characterized by greater wing surfaces, in turn derived from the previous D-5 version. Detailed plastic kit

The Stuka first flew in 1935 and made its combat debut in 1936 as part of the Condor Legion during the Spanish Civil War . The aircraft was easily recognizable by its inverted gull wings and fixed landing gears. The Stuka's design included several innovative features, including automatic pull-up dive brakes under both wings to ensure that the plane recovered from its attack dive even if the pilot blacked out from the acceleration. It became soon the icon of the German "Blitzkrieg" during the first stages of the Second World War providing the air support to the Wehrmacht Panzer Divisions. It was used by Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain where it showed its weaknesses compared to the faster and well-armed modern fighters as Hurricane and Spitfire.
