Fought by attacking German units and Russian defenders arrayed in depth, the gargantuan battle involved nearly 3,000 German tanks and more than 5,000 Russian ones. Germany kicked off Operation Zitadelle in the late summer of 1943, on 5 July. With massive losses on both sides, it was the last strategic offensive that Germany was able to launch on the Eastern Front. Dragon has a series of new and re-released kits commemorating that major battle on the way, but one of the most remarkable is a new item of a 1/35 Tiger I. What is special about this phenomenal kit is that it represents the Tiger I Early variant used by the famous German tank ace Michael Wittman. At the time of the Kursk fighting, Wittmann was serving in 13./Panzer Regiment 1, and Tiger Is were among the most lethal tank of the battle. This new 1/35 scale release depicts a Tiger I Early-Production tank, and modelers can be assured of user-friendly assembly and enhanced detail. It is replete with Magic Tracks, plus an array of photo-etched components to give the necessary touch of class. Wittmann led his platoon at Prokhorovka with this tank, and by the time the battle was over, his crew had destroyed about 30 Russian tanks and 28 anti-tank guns. The original project was set up in the mid-1920s (many technical solutions adopted as the large tracks are derived from the First World War main tanks) but the delivery to the French Army started only in the mid-30s. Massive and robust, Char B1 was improved in "bis" version to increase its operational effectiveness. It was armed with the 47 mm gun, located in the small turret, and the 75 mm howitzer located in the hull. The tank was characterized by a strong armour able to provide a good protection. The M-13/40 was perhaps the most recognizable and widespread tank of the Italian Regio Esercito. Although superior to the Italian light tanks of the "L" series which were relegated to perform reconnaissance duties, it in turn became obsolete during the war, and was ultimately unable to match opposing enemy tanks. However, the significant losses suffered during the battles, launched an improvement program in order to increase the operating effectiveness and the reliability of Israel’s tanks. During the 1970s, more in detail, the Magach 6 was developed on the basis of the American M60. Article number: 540007523 Product: 1:72 M103A2 Heavy Tank The 65-ton M103 Heavy Tank that served with the US Army and US Marine Corps (USMC) during the height of the Cold War from 1957-1974. Its whole design was predicated on the need to counter Soviet heavy tanks, and thus it boasted a rifled 120mm M58 cannon for long-distance engagements. This gun fired a separate-loading round, which required two loaders, thus giving five men in the crew. The armor was up to 180mm thick on the front of the turret. Some 300 T43E1 tanks were built, of which 219 were later converted to M103A1 standard, and 153 rebuilt into M103A2. This cold-war new kit builds upon previous M103A1 but comes various new-tooled parts, engine deck, fender, traveling lock, search light and storage rack. The turret is also modified. It is extremely well engineered and the parts separation is cleverly handled by the design team. Modelers can now build another such big heavy tank in the small scale 1/72. Attention !
