The new German army made use of the experiences collected in World War I to realize their modern reconstruction based on motorization. In spite of the limitations of the Treaty of Versailles able commanders introduced civilian vehicles into the army, thus creating a motorized mentality. In 1940 already, a battalion consisting of 3 to 4 companies each equipped with 52 motorcycles with sidecars and 4 motorcy-cles (single), was integrated into the motorized infantry and the armored divisions. Moreover, motorcycles were present in nearly all other Wehrmacht units, especially with the reconaissance units and the command, as well as the pioneer and the supply units. Produced in 16.500 units, the BMW R 75 together with the Zijndapp KS 750 formed the nucleus of the motorized units on all theatres of operations, especially in Africa and in Russia. The motorcycle was armored with an MG 34 mounted on the sidecar. On the road, it reached a maximum speed of 92 Km/h.

For reconnaissance and liaison missions, water had to be crossed frequently, which was impossible with other vehicles.

In the Cold War era the dream of every strategist was to own a bomber with the load capacity and autonomy of the B-52 able to fly faster than the B-58 and so the B-70 programme came into being. After years on the drawing board, and cutthroat competition between Boeing and North American Aviation, the latter’s design won the heated competition in December 1957, with an order for the first 30 aircraft to be in service by 1965. In 1959, however, it became clear that the still untested B-70 would not survive the new aerial combat scene technology and the programme was cut back to a minimum. Two prototypes were finally constructed, the first of which took to the air in September 1964, and the XB-70 Valkyries showed themselves able to fly at speeds exceeding Mach 3. Today they are considered by many scholars and airplane buffs to be the most beautiful aircraft ever constructed.

The engine and overall aeronautical performance of the aircraft provided the Regia Aeronautica with a fighter capable of actively engaging Allied fighters. Manoeuvrable and fast (it was able to reach 600 km h), it was armed, in the early versions, with two 12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns installed in the nose. The Macchi M.C. 205 Veltro is considered the best Italian fighter of World War II. The evolution of the "Folgore" retained the excellent aeronautical design of its predecessor and was equipped, like other fighters of the "Series 5", with the German Daimler-Benz DB605 engine. The powerful V12 engine, also produced under license by Fiat, allowed the Veltro to reach a maximum speed of 640 km/h. Fast, maneuverable, and well-armed, with 2 × 12.7 mm machine guns in the nose and 2 × 20 mm cannons in the wings, it was capable of fighting on par with the best Allied fighters of the period, such as the American P-51 Mustang. It entered service with the Regia Aeronautica in the early months of 1943. To better meet the logistical and transportation needs in the challenging environmental conditions of the Eastern Front, the Wehrmacht developed tracked tractors capable of towing various types of vehicles and transporting different loads, including ammunition and supplies. The official designation of this series of vehicles, which were highly versatile in operational use, was "Raupenschlepper-Ost" (Crawler Tractor-East). The RSO was predominantly built by the Austrian company Steyr, which also developed an anti-tank version that was simple and cost-effective to produce, armed with the reliable and formidable 75mm PaK40 cannon. The vehicle essentially had the same technical structure as the tractor and featured increased frontal protection, given its operational use in direct contact with the enemy. The "Biber" was the most well-known "pocket" submarine used by the Kriegsmarine during the latter part of World War II. The development of the Biber was extremely rapid. Design began in February 1944, and the first units were launched just 6 months later. Measuring just 9 meters long, it had a range of 240 km. It could reach a maximum speed of 6.5 knots surfaced and 5.3 knots submerged. The Biber could be armed with two 530 mm torpedoes, mounted externally to the submarine, or with two mines. Its crew consisted of only one person. The purpose of the Biber within the strategy of the Kriegsmarine was quite simple: to provide a concrete defense along the coasts to protect against a possible, and increasingly likely, Allied invasion. From 1944 until the end of World War II, the Kriegsmarine received and deployed over 300 Bibers.

The vehicle proved to be an excellent mix of mobility, protection and firepower which was built upon the operational experience gained by the Wehrmacht in the early stages of the conflict. From 1939 onwards the German army had used armored vehicles very effectively for advanced reconnaissance tasks, and also in a ground support role for its troops. The "Puma" was initially a reconnaissance vehicle, but due to its KwK 39 L / 60 50 mm gun it could also be used equally effectively in offensive actions against infantry and other armored vehicles. It was deployed in limited numbers on both the Eastern and Western fronts. The Panzer I tank had in fact a protection and armament capability no longer in keeping with the operational needs of the German armoured divisions. However, it had good mobility and a robust chassis which was ideal for the positioning of the anti-tank gun, which was sited behind an open steel shield. The Panzerjager I was deployed by the Wehrmacht during the invasion of France, in North Africa and in the early stages of Operation Barbarossa in 1941. It held a goodammunition supply, with over 70 rounds available for gunners. It was systematically replaced during the war bymore heavily armored tank destroyers, better equipped to deal with modern tank armor against which the 47 mm gun proved to be ineffective.
